part the second
so I phone the ticket office,( it's 5 oclock now) and they say "yeah, there are a few tickets left" and I get up, and the skies clear just a little... I'm doing the first out-doors-in-daylight-thing-at-a-weekend in months, and it feels scary-but-good ... challenging in a good way.
I get up to london in the two hours and stick my card in the machine and out come the precious tickets..
Now don't get me wrong, I do like Louden Wainwright III. Really I do. But the crashing wave of disappointment was quite hard for a moment.
I checked with a nice lady at the ticket office. I'd missed the afternoon concert. It was the afternoon.
I couldn't have got there, I didn't even hear about it until after. But to be soooo close.
Still - it got me up and it got me out. And I have a new name to explore more now. And I hope you do the 1000 years thing again one day so I can come and see.
And thankyou. Your talking about depression did help. Gives me something to cling to and gives me a shove.

part the first
So there's this songwriter/guitarist I've listened to and admired for years - nobody I know has heard of him, first saw him in the '70s at uni, then again way down the line-up supporting Led Zeppelin at knebworth...
Anyway, he did this fabulous album a while ago that I listen to a lot. Well this album has got this female vocalist on it... its really the first new musical thing Ive discovered for ages... you know, something new that 'speaks' to you... gets through.
And then I'm lying in bed mid saturday, trying to chase these wretched blues away, feeling truly useless and defeated, and weekend woman's hour comes on - and promises to talk about depression - and I think "I'll listen to that" - and do. And there's THAT voice! omg. the jazzy breathy quality, and the sharp edge that cuts through like a knife, and the diaphragm. (not making sense, but I know what I mean)...
So I check out her name on the web. And it IS the same singer... and OMG! she's playing TODAY!! in '1000 years'..

Losing It
Saw you with Ruby recently. You were a perfect foil for her manic character. Loved your slightly baffled performance as well as your musical inserts. An actress as well as a great writer/singer! Who knew?

Emily has been in my head for a week!
Since you and Ruby came to my venue in Newbury last weekend, I have been smitten by this song. Just bought some of your music on itunes.

Fabulous.

gigs ( Do posh girls call it "gigs")
Hello Judith. I saw your name on Danny T's website and thought I'd say hello. I would like to thank you for the wonderful show last year in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, along with Debra and Richard. It was for my 50th birthday, and it made that night a wee bit special. I hope you are keeping well, and once again thank you. XXX

Here
My Dad has just passed away and I put on my local radio station this morning & caught a beautiful song but didn't get it's name nor the artist. I called the station and they kindly informed me that it was "Here" by Judith Owen. So I got onto your website and have been listening to it over & over again for ages. Bringing back great memories of my Dad and "wishing he was still here". Love you for bringing this song into my heart. Hope you have a long and successful career. Thank you, Judith.
